Tina Mehr didn't discover the law in a classroom — she discovered it at her mother's side. Growing up in Tehran during the Iran-Iraq war, Tina watched her mother become a quiet pioneer in Iran's women's empowerment movement, refusing to be treated as a second-class citizen in a country at war. After the family immigrated to the United States, her mother — unable to afford an attorney — enrolled in paralegal classes. Tina studied alongside her.
Tina earned her B.A. cum laude and her J.D. from UCLA, where she served as Managing Editor of the UCLA Law Review, research assistant to Constitutional Law Professor Adam Winkler, and extern for the Honorable Richard A. Paez of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
After law school, she prosecuted high-profile cases in the Major Crimes unit of the LA County District Attorney's Office, then spent years as a litigation defense attorney at two AmLaw 100 firms — first in Los Angeles, then in Silicon Valley — defending the same large corporations that employees and consumers battle every day. She clerked for the Honorable Paul L. Abrams of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California before crossing to the plaintiff's side for good.
The financial crisis made the decision easy. The more she worked to defend corporations, the harder it became to ignore what was happening to the people on the other side of those cases.
Since 2014, Tina has worked exclusively on behalf of employees and consumers prosecuting large, complex class action and Individual cases under California and federal law, and helping individuals across every industry, from retail and restaurant workers to C-suite executives, pursue what they're actually owed.
She founded Moxie Legal on a single principle: people deserve the same caliber of legal representation that corporations take for granted. She brings Fortune 100 defense strategy to every negotiation — and takes select cases to court and arbitration when that's what it takes.
